Emergency Remembrance Day programme

The Emergency Remembrance Day programme is a commemorative event organized by the Loktantra Senani Sangh in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The event is dedicated to honoring individuals known as democracy activists who were impacted during the 1975 Emergency period in India. By bringing together survivors and officials, the program seeks to preserve the historical memory of the suspension of constitutional rights and the subsequent democratic movement.

A significant portion of the event is dedicated to youth engagement, featuring state-wide essay competitions for school and college students focused on the history of the Emergency. During the 2026 proceedings, winners of these competitions were recognized in an award ceremony attended by high-ranking state officials, including the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh. The gathering serves as both a political tribute and an educational platform to ensure the historical context of the era is passed down to new generations.
