Ziro Festival of Music

The Ziro Festival of Music is an annual four-day event that takes place from September 24 to 27 in Arunachal Pradesh, India. It is specifically hosted at the Ziro Festival Ground in the Biiri area of Ziro Valley. Each year, this festival transforms the picturesque valley into a vibrant center for musical performances and cultural engagement.

The festival showcases a diverse array of musical talent, including notable artists and bands from across India, alongside international performers from countries such as Sri Lanka, Ireland, Palestine, Nepal, Thailand, and South Korea. Attendees can enjoy various music genres, including rock, electronic, hip-hop, and folk. A significant aspect of the festival is its commitment to eco-friendly practices, adhering to a "zero-plastic" policy by using bamboo, wood, and other reusable materials for its infrastructure. Local Apatani artisans are actively involved in constructing the stages and other festival installations.

In addition to the musical acts, the Ziro Festival provides visitors with opportunities to explore the indigenous Apatani villages, rice fields, and pine forests of Ziro Valley. The event also highlights local cuisine and the traditional fermented rice beer known as 'Apong'. Tickets are necessary for entry, and both Indian and foreign tourists must obtain an Inner Line Permit (ILP) or Protected Area Permit (PAP), respectively, to enter Arunachal Pradesh.
