Bharatham festival themed on Pancha Bhootham

For 27 years, Natyarangam has curated the annual Bharatham festival, offering a platform for dancers to explore chosen themes and present full performances, often supported by research scholars and professional musicians. In 2026, the festival is centered on Pancha Bhootham, the five elements: Prithvi (Earth), Apah (Water), Agni (Fire), Vayu (Air), and Akasa (Sky).

The festival brings together Bharatanatyam dancers, Carnatic musicians, and research scholar Dr. Sudha Seshayyan, who collaborate on choreographic pieces. Each day features different artists interpreting one of the elements: K. Sarveshan and Amritha Murali explore Prithvi; Shweta Prachande and Rithvik Raja perform Apah; Navia Natarajan and Aishwarya Vidhya Raghunath present Agni; Christopher Gurusamy and Vignesh Ishwar interpret Vayu; and Harinie Jeevitha with Gayathri Girish conclude with Akasa. The event aims to provide new perspectives on familiar subjects and emphasize the interconnectedness of art and nature.
