Foxford Traditional Weekend

This annual event features approximately 45 events and workshops across various venues in Foxford. It aims to celebrate the town's rich musical heritage and inspire the next generation of traditional artists, welcoming musicians, performers, and visitors from Ireland and beyond.

The program includes concerts, masterclasses for instruments like fiddle, flute, concertina, accordion, banjo, tin whistle, harp, and traditional singing. There are also storytelling sessions, family-focused activities such as "Trad for Tots," and a popular Session Trail bringing live Irish music to local pubs.

Key highlights for 2026 include the "Holding the Story: A Storytelling Project from Mayo," the much-loved Rambling House, and the official opening with a Féile Concert at the Moy Hotel. An international concert will also celebrate musical connections between Ireland, Brittany, and the Basque Country. Activities for National Harp Day, a Junior Session for young musicians, and a Mummers Parade with a traditional straw hat-making workshop are also part of the festivities.

The Foxford Traditional Weekend is organized by the local Comhaltas branch in Foxford, supported by a voluntary committee dedicated to nurturing and promoting traditional Irish music, song, dance, storytelling, and the Irish language (Gaeilge).
