A Year of Happiness

Artist Andrea Jameson presents ‘A Year of Happiness,’ a significant exhibition of her work at the Ballymaloe Grainstore in East Cork. The collection consists of around 50 paintings that function as a visual diary, capturing specific moments and memories. Jameson, a descendant of the whiskey family and granddaughter of the artist Joan Jameson, draws inspiration from the Irish landscape, including its rivers, mountains, and coastal scenery.

The exhibition is specifically dedicated to the surgical and oncology teams at Cork University and Bon Secours hospitals. Having survived two separate battles with cancer, the artist uses her work to express gratitude for the care she received and to highlight the dedication of healthcare workers. The pieces aim to offer viewers a sense of joyful escapism and a reflection on the wonderment of the planet, even during challenging times.

Opening with an introduction by Robert O’Byrne, the showcase reflects Jameson's lifelong career and her education under Frank Sanquest at the Crawford College of Art and Design. Some works in the exhibition were created with her left hand during her recovery, illustrating her commitment to her craft throughout her health journey.
