African Festival of Arts, Culture and Creatives

The African Festival of Arts, Culture and Creatives (AFESTACC) is set for its inaugural edition in Ghana, running from December 9 to 12, 2026. This significant event is a joint initiative resulting from an agreement between Ghana's Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD). It will be implemented through AUDA-NEPAD’s Africa Creatives, Sports and Recreation (ACSAR) Programme, with an initial announcement made by Ghana's Minister, Abla Dzifa Gomashie.

AFESTACC is designed to showcase and celebrate African excellence across diverse artistic forms, including music, dance, theatre, film, literature, fashion, gastronomy, beauty, heritage, sports, and contemporary creative expressions. A primary goal is to establish a continental platform that unites African Union Member States, creatives, policymakers, investors, and the African diaspora, fostering collaboration and cultural diplomacy.

Beyond cultural celebration, the festival intends to position Africa's cultural and creative economy as a key driver for development. It seeks to promote investment, tourism, entrepreneurship, innovation, and skills development, particularly benefiting youth and women. The event is projected to generate opportunities for over 20,000 Ghanaians within the tourism, culture, and creative arts sectors. Specific host venues within Ghana and detailed programming are expected to be unveiled closer to the event.
