GPHA 40th Anniversary Celebration

The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) marked the beginning of its 40th-anniversary celebration on Saturday, July 8, 2026, by organizing colorful health and awareness walks in both Tema and Takoradi. These walks were led by the Directors of Port for Tema and Takoradi, Tebon Zumah Esq. and Captain Richmond Quayeson respectively.

The events brought together GPHA management, staff, retirees, their families, union executives, and the broader community. Participants engaged in a vibrant display of unity and pride, featuring music, dancing, and chants, all while promoting healthy living. The walks celebrated GPHA's four decades of dedicated service to Ghana's maritime and trade sectors. In Tema, the Director of Port expressed appreciation for the collective efforts that have sustained public confidence in Ghana's ports, also mentioning plans to establish a dedicated sports center and potentially make the health walk a regular feature. In Takoradi, the anniversary was highlighted as a celebration of the merger that formed the modern GPHA and its evolution into a major shipping and logistics hub.
