National Eisteddfod

The National Eisteddfod is a major annual celebration of Welsh culture and heritage, scheduled to take place at Y Garreg Las, located just outside Cardigan. The 2026 edition carries significant historical weight as it forms part of the celebrations marking the 850th anniversary of the first recorded Eisteddfod, which was hosted by Lord Rhys at Cardigan Castle in 1176.

A central feature of this year's festival is Y Lle Celf, a celebrated gallery for fine art and craft. In a special partnership with Craft Festival Wales and Oriel Canfas, the festival will host the 'Aur/Gold' exhibition. This landmark showcase brings together previous Gold Medal winners in various disciplines, including ceramics, textiles, metalwork, and glass, highlighting the extraordinary legacy of Welsh makers and artists.
