Pareidolia

"Pareidolia" showcases the work of Enniskillen artist Rachael Johnson, marking a significant personal and professional milestone. The exhibition's title refers to the psychological phenomenon of perceiving familiar patterns or meanings in random, ambiguous visual stimuli. Johnson uses this concept to guide her creative process, applying and removing layers of texture and color until hidden forms emerge from the medium.

The collection features textured pieces created from a diverse array of materials, including paint, ink, charcoal, organic matter, metal, wood, stone, and glass. These "interior landscapes" reflect the artist's background as a registered art psychotherapist and her extensive travels across North Africa, India, and Australia. The works incorporate archetypal symbols and ritual processes, inviting viewers to explore the intersection of art-making and the journey toward healing.

The exhibition opens at the Struel Arts Centre on May 1 at 7:00 PM and continues until May 30. Attendees can view a combination of new works and selected pieces spanning Johnson's career.
