Patterns in Nature and Legends

This debut solo exhibition features new and recent lino prints by Jonah Evans, an artist known for his visually striking works. His pieces combine bold mark-making with intricate detail and a strong sense of graphic composition, often at an ambitious scale. Evans's work is deeply rooted in his upbringing on the west coast of Wales, with the landscape, wildlife, and cultural traditions informing his artistic practice.

The exhibition highlights recurring themes of the natural world, prominently featuring birds, alongside explorations of Welsh folklore and mythology. Evans populates his prints with fantastical creatures like dragons and beasts, using these imagined worlds to explore the expressive potential of lino through carved marks, patterns, and silhouettes.

Jonah Evans, who was Highly Commended in the Eirian Llwyd Memorial Award in 2025, studied Fine Art and now works as a tattoo artist in Bristol, a discipline that influences his approach to line, form, and design in printmaking. His work is part of public collections, including the National Library of Wales, and he has also been commissioned to illustrate a fictional book, with some of these new works included in the exhibition.
