Rugby Literary Festival

The Rugby Literary Festival celebrates imagination, creativity, and the joy of reading with a diverse schedule of free events across various venues in Rugby town centre. The festival launches on Friday, October 23, with highlights including a guided tour exploring Rugby's literary connections to writers such as Rupert Brooke and Lewis Carroll, a 'create your zine' workshop, children's storytelling, a website writing workshop, and an open mic spoken word event.

Saturday, October 24, features author talks, a Writer's Block Escape Room at Rugby Library, and various writing workshops covering topics like plotting romantic novels, writing fantasy, and the role of research in fiction. Budding authors can learn from best-selling writers, while a book fair and book swap will be available at the library. Throughout the three days, Rugby Library also offers a quiet reading space.

The festival concludes on Sunday, October 25, with a dedicated Family Day at the Benn Hall. This day includes musical storytelling, character drawing workshops, arts and crafts, face-painting, and storytelling by a children's author. Other Sunday activities include workshops to inspire writing a first book, a Local Author Spotlight showcasing Rugby's current scribes, and sessions on setting up a writing group and successfully marketing a book.
