Theatr Gwaun Welsh Film Festival

The Theatr Gwaun Welsh Film Festival, an inaugural event, will be held at Theatr Gwaun in Fishguard from October 23 to 25, 2026. This new festival aims to honor 130 years of filmmaking in Wales, offering a comprehensive look at Welsh cinema's past, present, and future.

The festival's program includes a variety of activities such as feature-film screenings, a selection of films chosen by the audience, and engaging conversations with filmmakers. A key highlight is the showcase of new short films, for which an Open Call invites submissions from both experienced and emerging Welsh filmmakers, including students, artists, and community groups.

Selected short films will be screened on Saturday, October 24, providing filmmakers with the opportunity to see their work on a large screen with professional digital cinema technology and Dolby 7.1 surround sound. Theatr Gwaun, a 180-seat venue, boasts upgraded cinema facilities including a Barco laser cinema projector, ensuring a high-quality viewing experience. The festival encourages submissions across all genres, including fiction, documentary, animation, and music videos, in Welsh, English, bilingual, silent, or subtitled formats, suitable for a 12A classification or below.
