Moors and Christians festival

The Moors and Christians festival in Denia is an iconic, vibrant cultural, historical, and traditional event. Declared an event of Tourist Interest, it is held annually in honour of Sant Roc in the coastal town of Denia, Spain. The festivities typically span three days, from August 14 to 16, and showcase a breathtaking spectacle of history, music, and pageantry.

The celebrations commence on Friday, August 14, with traditional events such as the Diana festera morning wake-up parade, featuring local musical bands moving through Denia's historic centre. The evening highlights include the Children’s Parade (Desfile Infantil) bringing color and energy to Calles La Via, Diana, and Marqués de Campo, followed by the Entrada de Bandas at Plaza del Consell, where musical bands jointly perform festive marches.

The undisputed crown jewel of the festival, the Grand Gala Parade (Gran Desfile de Gala), takes center stage on Saturday, August 15. This grand procession begins in the evening and draws tens of thousands of spectators to marvel at elaborate costumes, horses, dance troupes, and musical ensembles along Marqués de Campo. The night culminates with a dazzling fireworks display over Plaza Jaume I, closing out the main day of celebrations.
