Castell de l'Olla

The Castell de l'Olla is one of the most visually stunning and anticipated social events on the Costa Blanca's summer calendar. This world-renowned pyrotechnic display is held annually in the coastal town of Altea, Spain, attracting tens of thousands of spectators to witness a breathtaking spectacle launched directly from the sea.

The fireworks display takes place on Saturday, August 8, a minute before midnight. Thousands of rockets are launched from sea-bound floating platforms off the coast of Altea, illuminating the night sky with brilliant colours and intricate patterns that reflect off the dark water. Spectators gather along the shores of Platja de l'Olla, the surrounding Villa Gadea gardens, and numerous boats, yachts, and traditional vessels offshore, to watch the show.

Originating decades ago, the Castell de l'Olla festival serves as a special commemorative tribute to a beloved local pyrotechnician, Blas Aznar, following his passing. This tradition has spanned three decades and holds significant prestige, having earned the Tourist Merit Award in the Gold category in 1999 and an official declaration as a Festival of Tourist Interest by the Generalitat Valenciana in 2007.
