The Berlin Pride Parade, known in Germany as Christopher Street Day (CSD), is a significant annual LGBTQ+ celebration in Berlin, Germany. The 2026 event was held on July 26, drawing hundreds of thousands of participants for a public parade through central Berlin, passing iconic landmarks like the Brandenburg Gate and areas adjacent to Tiergarten park. The parade typically features numerous floats, music, speeches, and rallies celebrating LGBTQ+ rights.

The festivities were severely disrupted when a vehicle drove into a crowd in the Tiergarten park area. This incident resulted in at least one confirmed fatality and multiple injuries, with some reported to be life-threatening. Following the event, police and organizers swiftly called off the remaining program, including scheduled concerts and rallies, advising participants to leave the vicinity for safety reasons.

An intensive investigation was launched immediately into the incident. While initial reports did not specify a motive, German authorities later indicated it was being treated as a possible Islamist terror attack. The suspect, identified as Abdul Ballout, was subsequently killed by police during an attempted arrest after reportedly assaulting officers with a sharp weapon.
