Canada’s National Ukrainian Festival

Canada’s National Ukrainian Festival is a major cultural gathering dedicated to preserving and showcasing Ukrainian traditions, music, and heritage. Held at the Selo Ukraina festival site in the Rural Municipality of Dauphin, the event typically attracts large crowds and serves as a significant economic driver for the region. The 2026 event was scheduled to run from July 31 through August 2.

The 2026 edition was cancelled by the festival's board of directors following consultation with local government and insurance providers. While the festival grounds themselves were not directly damaged by summer flooding, the Dauphin Regional Health Centre and its emergency department were forced to close due to flood damage. Organizers determined they could not provide a safe environment for the public because the nearest emergency medical services had been relocated to communities more than 30 minutes away.

Local officials estimated the cancellation would result in a multimillion-dollar economic loss for the community, as the event is one of the region's largest summer festivals. To assist patrons, organizers announced that tickets purchased for the 2026 dates would be honored at the following year's festival or could be submitted for a refund.
