The Orange Shirt Day Powwow is an annual event dedicated to honoring and remembering children who experienced residential schools, coinciding with the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30. This free public event in Chilliwack features grand entries at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 2, and at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 3.

The program includes special dances such as the Orange Regalia Special, Women’s Fancy, Men’s Grass, and Owl Dance. Wild River, a host drum group of drummers and singers from throughout B.C., provides music, with Chris Wells as emcee. The event also hosts up to 60 vendors and a community feast on Saturday at 5 p.m.

Starting in 2022, the event was originally named the Truth and Reconciliation Powwow. The Ojibwe word 'powwow' means "to gather" and share songs, stories, and dance. The powwow is organized in partnership with the Chilliwack School District and the City of Chilliwack, and is held at Chilliwack Secondary School.
