Stormont County Fair

The Stormont County Fair is a long-standing agricultural tradition held in Newington, Ontario. Spanning four days over the Labour Day weekend, the fair serves as a major community gathering that highlights local farming culture through various livestock shows and competitive exhibitions.

One of the fair's most significant attractions is the Friday night demolition derby, which draws thousands of spectators to the grandstands. Another core event is the heritage sport of horse pulling, featuring draft horse teams from both Ontario and Quebec. These competitions emphasize the strength and training of Belgian and Percheron horses in a display of traditional rural skills.

Beyond the main arenas, visitors can participate in a variety of social and recreational activities. Recent additions to the program include a cornhole tournament hosted in the beer garden. The fair is a major volunteer-driven effort, requiring hundreds of local participants to coordinate the extensive schedule of agricultural displays and entertainment for the thousands of annual attendees.
