77th North Thompson Fall Fair & Rodeo

The 77th North Thompson Fall Fair & Rodeo is a cherished annual event that brings the "cowboy and cowgirl spirit" to Barriere, British Columbia, from September 5 to 7. Hosted at the North Thompson Fall Fair Rodeo & Agriplex, located at 4856 Dunn Lake Road, this festival celebrates the region's agricultural roots and community spirit. It was originally founded to expose people to agriculture and later expanded to include a rodeo component.

A key highlight of the weekend is the British Columbia Rodeo Association’s Polaris Championship Finals, showcasing rodeo talent from across B.C. Athletes compete in various events like bull riding, barrel racing, and team roping, vying for provincial titles. Beyond the rodeo, the fair features a range of activities including a Lions Pancake Breakfast, the Fall Fair Parade which highlights agricultural and equestrian traditions, and 4-H livestock shows for sheep, cattle, rabbits, goats, and horses. The Exhibit Hall displays various grown and crafted items, while other events include Stock Dog Trials, Horses in Harness Classes, Lawn Tractor Races, an Open Goat Show, and a Cowboy Concert with dance and social gatherings. The event typically draws thousands of attendees, with over 7,000 people from across British Columbia and beyond reported.
