South Cariboo Garlic Festival

The South Cariboo Garlic Festival celebrated its 25th anniversary on Saturday, August 29, and Sunday, August 30, 2026. This annual food festival took place at the South Cariboo Garlic Festival Grounds, situated just north of Lac La Hache in British Columbia, Canada, drawing just under 7,000 attendees from across the province.

To mark its milestone anniversary, the festival brought back a popular garlic-eating contest, where participants competed to consume several cloves of garlic. Anniversary cake was also served, adding to the celebratory atmosphere. The event saw hundreds of vendors, with many experiencing high sales, particularly on the first day, which boasted beautiful weather. Despite rainy conditions on Sunday, the festival continued to attract a significant crowd, counting over 2,000 visitors.

Organizers expressed gratitude for the community and business sponsors, as well as the volunteers who contributed to the event's success. Plans for future festivals include retaining the garlic-eating contest and potentially reintroducing a garlic cooking contest that was a part of earlier editions.
