Guns and Hoses V

Guns and Hoses V is the fifth annual iteration of a community service event held at the Taber Food Bank Vegetable Garden. The gathering invites members of the local police, RCMP, and fire departments to work alongside the general public in a collective effort to harvest garden produce. The event is designed to address food insecurity by supplying fresh vegetables to local and provincial food banks.

The evening begins with a community barbecue hosted by the Knights of Columbus, typically starting around 5 p.m. Following the meal, participants engage in a harvesting work party. The scale of the operation is significant; the previous year's event resulted in nearly 11,000 pounds of produce being collected and distributed across Alberta.

While first responders are featured guests, the event is open to all community members seeking to volunteer. The produce gathered during the session is shared with the Taber Food Bank and facilities in Lethbridge, with the remainder distributed through Food Banks Alberta.
