Ready for School Resource Fair

Organized by United Way North East Ontario, the Ready for School Resource Fair is a community initiative held at the Elmwood Hub. The event aims to alleviate the financial and logistical pressures of a new school year by bringing together schools, service providers, and community organizations under one roof. It is open to all parents, guardians, and children seeking information on local supports.

Families can learn about a wide range of services including mental health supports, after-school programs, transportation, and recreation opportunities. Rather than focusing solely on school supplies, the fair emphasizes building long-term connections to ensure children have the necessary resources to thrive throughout the entire academic year.

The fair features several interactive attractions for children, such as educational activities hosted by Science North and TVO. The North Bay Fire Department also participates, offering kids the chance to explore a fire truck. Local partners in attendance typically include the North Bay Public Library, Planet Youth Nipissing, and various city representatives.
