To celebrate the 15th year of the Cowichan Valley Shakespeare Festival, the Shawnigan Players are staging a production of the romantic comedy 'Taming of the Shrew.' Directed by Alex Gallacher, this interpretation highlights the 'play within a play' framework of the original text, beginning with the character of Christopher Sly. The story centers on the volatile and evolving relationship between the headstrong Katherina and her suitor Petruchio.

The performance schedule begins with an 11 a.m. preview at Charles Hoey Park on August 3, marking the conclusion of the 39 Days of July festival. The production then moves to Gem O’ the Isle Farm for several evening performances and a final Sunday matinee. The cast includes Connor Lachmanec as Petruchio and Jessica Lyric as Katherina, supported by a mix of new and returning local actors.
