Langford United festival

The Langford United festival is a six-week sporting celebration designed to foster community spirit in the West Shore region. The event's primary draw is its series of outdoor watch parties for the FIFA World Cup, hosted at The Station on Station Avenue. These gatherings provide a central hub for fans of all backgrounds to cheer on their teams in a public setting, featuring large screens and a family-friendly atmosphere.

Funded in part by an $85,000 grant from the British Columbia provincial government's Community Event Support Fund, the festival aims to highlight the cultural energy of the Langford Station district. The event attracts visitors from across the Capital Regional District, offering a collective viewing experience that differs from watching matches at home. In addition to the soccer screenings, the festival site serves as a playground for children and a showcase for local vibrancy.

While the festival is a major draw for the city, it involves significant local coordination, including road closures on Station Avenue to accommodate the crowds. The six-week extravaganza runs through the duration of the international soccer tournament, concluding with a final celebration on July 19.
