45th Annual Threshing Festival

The 45th Annual Threshing Festival takes place at the Vintage Power Machines Museum, situated 10 kilometers southwest of Prince Albert along Highway 11, Saskatchewan. This annual heritage event, held on July 11-12, aims to preserve the history of Saskatchewan farming equipment and educate future generations about the province's agricultural past.

Attendees can experience a variety of demonstrations including blacksmithing, threshing with vintage machines, gold milling, and saw milling. A popular vintage tractor pull features eight events across different weight classes, with trophies for winners. The festival also offers a pancake breakfast provided by Smitty’s Restaurant and Lounge, bouncy castles for children, and a food concession. Historical buildings such as the Donnybrook School (1907), Giles Family Farm House (1901), and an antique General Store are open for visitors, alongside exhibits of stationary engines. Axe throwing demonstrations are also featured.

Beyond the attractions, the festival includes cash draws from gate entry tickets and a silent auction with numerous community-donated items. Funds raised during the event are crucial for the museum's ongoing efforts to revitalize and repair existing buildings, construct new facilities like a canteen and meeting room, and house restored antique hardware and tractors, despite challenges with volunteer numbers.
