Nuits d’Afrique

The 40th edition of Festival International Nuits d’Afrique spans 13 days, featuring approximately 130 concerts and activities across downtown Montreal. While the festival officially begins on July 7 with indoor programming, its popular outdoor component, the Village des Nuits d’Afrique, opens on July 14. This central hub in the Quartier des spectacles hosts free live performances, family-oriented workshops, and street animations that extend onto Sainte-Catherine Street.

The 2026 program highlights a wide range of musical genres including Congolese rumba, reggae, Afro-fusion, and salsa. Featured series like 'Femmes du Monde' spotlight women in global music, while the milestone anniversary is marked by large-scale productions such as Afrique en Cirque. Headlining artists for the outdoor stage include international icons from Ivory Coast, Colombia, Congo, and Haiti.

Beyond the musical performances, the festival site offers an immersive cultural experience at the Timbuktu Market and the Promenade des Saveurs, which features food inspired by African and Latin American culinary traditions. Nightly activities such as 'Danses sous les étoiles' allow the public to participate in outdoor dance sessions, maintaining the festival's reputation as a major center for cultural exchange in North America.
