Horitzontal festival

Created by director Amanda Fry, the festival aims to provide the local community with opportunities to interact directly with the food industry. The event centers on the 'soil to up' philosophy, encouraging attendees to learn about the origins of their food and meet the people responsible for growing and bottling local products. A key feature is the Connection Tent, an installation designed to facilitate meaningful dialogue and social bonding among strangers through shared experiences.

The programming includes 'Our Food Stories' workshops, which offer intimate cooking sessions with experts such as Mindy Woods, Mark Best, and Simon Evans. Additionally, internationally recognized chef Francis Mallmann is scheduled to host a 'Godfather of fire' masterclass, where he demonstrates how to prepare international dishes using regional Australian produce. These activities are designed to highlight the stories and challenges of the agricultural sector while celebrating the country's food supply.

Located in the Southern Highlands at Centennial Vineyards, the event utilizes communal eating as a tool for building community. By pairing food with social interaction, the festival seeks to enhance the sense of belonging and well-being among its participants during the four-day gathering.
