This significant event features the voices of Victoria’s First Peoples, with songs performed entirely in the Aboriginal languages of the song keepers who hold each song. The production is described as a powerful celebration that traces ancient trade routes and songlines across south-east Australia, culminating at the Birrarung (Yarra River) on the ancestral lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people of the Kulin Nation.

Creator Kutcha Edwards, a Mutti Mutti, Nari Nari, and Yorta Yorta songman, whose personal story of displacement and reconnection forms an emotional current of the performance, regards the production as a ceremony deeply connected to the Dreaming stories of rivers and Country. The stage is transformed into a living ceremonial landscape, utilizing shifting light, texture, and movement to reflect the flow of rivers and the enduring presence of Country.

An outstanding cast of First Nations artists, including Deborah Cheetham Fraillon AO, Wayne Thorpe, and Alice Skye, join Edwards on stage. The production is directed by Kylie Belling, with musical direction by Aaron Choulai, and cultural practice and weaving integrated throughout the performance by Tegan Murdock.
