Health Expo

The inaugural Health Expo in Bamaga is a free community event designed to promote whole-of-community engagement and empower residents of the Northern Peninsula Area (NPA) to take control of their health and wellbeing. The event is slated for Wednesday, August 26, 2026, beginning at 10 am, and will be held at the Bamaga Community Hall.

Organized by the Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service (TCHHS), this expo follows successful runs in Aurukun and Kowanyama. It offers a range of activities including interactive workshops, health screenings, and informative sessions. AFL Cape York will provide activities to engage community members of all ages, and attendees can receive gift bags.

Highlighting the importance of accessible care, the TCHHS's custom-built mobile dental van will be on-site to promote oral health, prevention, and early detection. The event emphasizes providing culturally safe and meaningful advice, building on existing local knowledge. Various health partners, such as NPA Family and Community Services, Community Enterprise Queensland, and Mookai Rosie Bi-Bayan, will also be present to offer support and resources.

A free shuttle bus service will be available from 9 am to ensure easy access for all community members.
