Darley stallion parade and open day

The Darley Stallion Parade and Open Day is an annual public event held at Northwood Park in Seymour, Victoria. It provides an opportunity for horse racing enthusiasts, breeders, and the local community to see elite thoroughbred stallions up close. The 2026 edition is free to attend and aims to make the breeding industry accessible to the general public, requiring no prior expertise.

The event features a parade of the current stallion roster, which includes seven horses standing at the property for the season. Notable stallions scheduled for display include the world-class racehorse Ghaiyyath and the Newmarket Handicap winner Cylinder. Additionally, the event will introduce Observer, a dual Group One winner of the Victoria Derby and Australian Guineas, during his first season at stud.

Beyond the stallion showcase, visitors can tour the historic Northwood Park facilities. Established as a horse and cattle farm in the early 20th century, the property is the final resting place of 1925 Melbourne Cup winner Windbag. Participants can learn about the history of the site and the daily operations of a modern thoroughbred breeding farm while meeting the staff who work with the horses daily.
