Noosa Pengari Children’s Festival

The annual Noosa Pengari Children’s Festival is scheduled for Sunday, August 23, 2026, from 10 am to 3 pm, at the Noosa Pengari Steiner School in Doonan, Australia. This year marks the festival’s 30th anniversary, promising a joyous and vibrant celebration of community, creativity, and childhood. Originating from humble beginnings, the festival has evolved into one of the most cherished community gatherings on the Sunshine Coast, with free entry for all attendees.

The festival offers a wide array of activities designed for all ages. Younger children can enjoy a gem hunt, a magical river run with floating nature boats, meeting friendly farm animals, pony rides, beeswax candle dipping, and crafting nature garlands or tie-dye items. Older children can test their skills on a low ropes course, a rock-climbing wall, or a brand-new mega obstacle course. A student-run chai tent will also host an open mic session. For adults, there's a treasure house of handcrafted toys, pre-loved clothing and book stalls, a plant stall, and a mini market featuring local goods. A variety of food options, including a famous cake house, a curry kitchen, and sushi, will be available.

Music forms a central part of this year's festivities, with the festival officially opened by Noosa Mayor Frank Wilkie and local singer Jo Hendrie. The main stage will feature live performances throughout the day, including a first-time afternoon set from a travelling headline band. A new sound immersion space in the auditorium offers a tranquil area for choirs and crystal singing bowls, while the roving sounds of Zach Threads will wander through the grounds. The chai tent's open mic further encourages spontaneous musical expression, fostering an atmosphere of freedom to wander, create, and enjoy without pressure.
