Nikos Kouroussis: labyrinths

"Nikos Kouroussis: labyrinths" is a survey exhibition exploring the artist's extensive work, presented at the Limassol Municipal Arts Centre – Apothikes Papadaki from September 4 to October 4, 2026. The exhibition proposes the labyrinth as a narrative approach, unfolding through thematic cycles and archival traces rather than a linear chronology, allowing different periods of Kouroussis' work to resonate. It brings together painting, video, functional sculpture, installations, archival material, and film footage, highlighting his sustained interest in sculptural forms, space, imagery, and technologies.

The exhibition traces Kouroussis' practice, which evolved through significant transformations, including the integration of new digital technologies, while maintaining painting, installations, and public artworks as vital languages. It features emblematic works from series like "Labyrinth" (1970-), "Rainbow" (1974-), "Metamorphosis" (1986-), "Icarus" (1987-), and "Functional Sculpture" (1985-). A new commission recreates a 1970 labyrinth work, bridging earlier gestures with the present.

A rich parallel events program accompanies the exhibition, including a catalogue raisonné launch during the opening, walkthroughs at the Cyprus Theatre Museum and the Nikos Kouroussis Foundation Museum and Sculpture Park in Mitsero, creative workshops for various age groups, and curatorial tours. The program also features an exhibition book launch and discussion, published by Armida Books and the Limassol Municipal Arts Centre – Apothikes Papadaki.
